UPDATE Trump Administration Sets Section 232 Tariffs for Lumber, Kitchen Cabinets, and Other Wood Products on Oct. 14th

Trump Administration Delays Section 232 Tariff Increases for Upholstered Furniture and Kitchen Cabinets
On December 31st, 2025, President Trump signed a Proclamation to delay the anticipated Section 232 tariff increases for imports of upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities for another year.
Under the initial September 29th, 2025, presidential proclamation, the Section 232 tariff increases for imports of upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities were set to take effect on January 1st, 2026 at 12:01 AM EST.
The current 25% import tariff on certain upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities, as imposed under the September 25th, 2025, Proclamation remains in effect.
Upholstered wooden furniture subject to the 25% rate will continue to be filed under subheading 9903.76.02, which will apply to subheadings 9401.61.4011; 9401.61.4031; 9401.61.6011; and 9401.61.6031.
Wooden cabinets and vanities subject to the 25% tariff will continue to be filed under subheading 9903.76.03, covering subheadings 9403.40.9060; 9403.60.8093; and 9403.91.0080.
