Mexico Security & Transportation Update

We are providing an update on the current security situation in western and central Mexico and its impact on transportation.

Multiple highway blockades and roadway obstructions have been reported across several states, including Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Colima, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas. As a precaution, several trucking companies have temporarily paused operations in affected areas, limiting safe and reliable transit along certain corridors.

On the customs side, the Guadalajara and Manzanillo customs offices temporarily suspended operations on February 22nd. Authorities are continuing to coordinate on timing for a full return to normal operations.

The Port of Manzanillo remains operational. Federal authorities have confirmed there is no general port closure, and Manzanillo operators have reported that activity has resumed for exports and empty container intake, with import appointments proceeding as scheduled.

From an operational standpoint, inland highway conditions remain the primary constraint. Delays, rerouting, extended transit times, and capacity tightening are all being experienced on impacted lanes.

Many states have issued shelter-in-place recommendations to their populations.

We are monitoring official advisories in real time and coordinating closely with carrier partners, holding dispatch where safety cannot be verified. RIM logistics, ltd. will continue to closely monitor this evolving situation and provide updates as conditions develop. Please reach out to your RIM representative with any questions.
