Canadian Rail Strike Ends

This afternoon, the Canadian Government stepped in and ended the day-long strike / lockout that impacted approximately 9,000 rail workers at the Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) rail companies. CN said they would end the lockout at 6:00pm ET. Rail operations will be ramped up over the next few days, and trains should be operational by the weekend. We can expect congestion and delays to persist into next week, possibly into the first part of September. The Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) will now consult with both sides to broker the back-to-work process.
