Mangkhut may be the most powerful storm ever recorded, since reporting started in 1946, to hit the Hong Kong island. The storm passed 58 NM to the South of Hong Kong and went through the Zhongshan and Jiangmen areas on the mainland.
Many iconic areas of Hong Kong have been badly damaged. Mangkhut’s impact, particularly in Southern China, will be affecting manufacturing and transportation in these areas for weeks.
RIM will continue to provide updated information to you regarding this dynamic situation, as it becomes available. Hong Kong and Yantian Port statuses are currently unknown.
