RIM Weekly Domestic Update | March 25th, 2025
Fuel Updates
Fuel is $3.567 for the week, which is up from $3.549 last week.
We’re starting to see a larger spread between spot and contract rates. An increasing gap between spot and contract rates indicates a shift in the market.
Van Freight:
- Spot rates are up 2%, with much of South and Southeast still experiencing capacity issues; however, the load-to-truck ratio has decreased.

Reefer Freight:
- Texas, Mississippi, New Jersey, Vermont, and Delaware continue to have high load-to-truck ratios.
- Spot rates have remained stable with no change; however, we have seen an increase of 7% in load-to-truck ratios.

Flatbed Freight:
- Flatbed rates are off to their hottest start since 2017, particularly for freight like construction materials, machinery, steel, and oversized cargo.
- Spot rates are slightly down by 1%, with the load-to-truck ratio increasing for most of the US since the construction season will now be in full swing.
