RIM US Inland Digest | May 13th, 2025
Fuel Updates:
Fuel is at $3.476 for the week, down from the previous week’s $3.497.
Welcome to DOT Blitz Week, where inspections happen every 15 minutes. During this 72-hour period, inspectors throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will conduct approximately 15 vehicle inspections every minute. Hours of service is the primary focus this year.
This year’s blitz comes during one of the softest freight seasons in recent memory. Although rates are already below five-year averages, most carriers will likely remain on the road.
Reefer Freight:
- Load to truck ratio increased 11%
- Spot rates with slight decrease of 1%
- Saw small spikes with early produce movement in California and Florida
- Current National average $1.90 per mile (excluding fuel)
Van Freight:
- Load to truck ratio increased 1%
- Spot rates with slight increase of .5%
- Current National average $1.65 per mile (excluding fuel)
Flatbed Freight:
- Load to truck ratio decreased 5%
- Spot rates increased .5%
- Boosted briefly with spring construction, but capacity is catching up to volume
- Current National average $2.10 per mile (excluding fuel) with stronger performances in Midwest and Southeast
We hope you have a fantastic week! If you need any assistance or have any questions, please reach out to your RIM Representative or to our Domestic Team at RIMDomestic@rimlogistics.com.
