Fuel Updates

Fuel is $3.592 for the week, which comes as an increase from $3.567 last week.

Flatbed Freight:

Flatbed continues to disrupt the market. Typically flatbed is the leading indicator of a market shift, with van rates lagging behind as industrial orders turn to consumer goods.

  • Load to truck ratio of +16%.
  • Spot rates increasing to $2.53/mile on average.
  • Flatbed rates haven’t seen an increase like this since 2017.

Van Freight:

  • Spot rates remained stagnant, hovering around an average of $2/mile. If the high Flatbed load-to-truck ratio stays high, it will in turn cause van rates to increase.

Reefer Freight:

  • Load to truck ratio of +23%.
  • Spot rates dropping to an average $2.27/mile.
  • Contracted rates held steady.
