Fuel Updates
Fuel is at $3.579 for the week, which is down from $3.639 the previous week.
Spot rates gave back some of their recent gains with capacity outpacing demand. Flatbed markets also cooled, and while California produce volumes are entering the marketplace, truckload levels are about three (3) weeks behind last year’s pace.
Reefer Freight:
- Vidalia onion season starts today and will run through September.
- Load post volumes cooled, dropping by 27%
- North American produce volumes dropped 16%
- Produce volumes on the southern border dropped 32%
- Load-to-truck ratio is down 27% with 7 loads per truck
- Reefer linehaul rates dropped to $1.88/mile
Van Freight:
- Load-to-Truck ratio is down 26% with 4 loads per truck
- Linehaul rates dropped to an average of $1.62/mile
Flatbed Freight:
- Flatbed load posts down 13%
- Capacity demand is beginning to flatten, although volumes are still 23% higher than last year
- Load-to-truck ratio is 36 loads per every truck
- Spot rates dropped to an average of $2.16/mile
