In a July 13th update to the U.S. Court of International Trade, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported that as of 3 PM EDT on Friday, July 10th, approximately 24.4 million entries with IEEPA duties were processed through the agency’s Consolidated Administration and Process of Entries (CAPE) since the ACE program’s launch on April 20th, accounting for $121.75 billion in both potential and certified refunds.
The update, which was provided by CBP’s Executive Director of Trade Programs, Brandon Lord to CIT Judge Richard Eaton, stated “CBP’s financial accounting system receives updates from Treasury that indicate these CBP certified refunds are being regularly dispersed.”
CBP also told CIT that on June 29th the agency launched its new CAPE functionality for use by importers and their customs brokers in ACE. This new functionality permits importers and their customs brokers to include on a CAPE Declaration entries that are unliquidated (or that have liquidated within the preceding 80 days) that were flagged for reconciliation, but for which no Reconciliation Entry (Entry Type 09) has been filed. As of 3 PM EDT on Friday, July 10th, approximately 1.97 million entries flagged for reconciliation have been successfully filed in CAPE and are set for processing, CBP said.
